Listen to the Sermon: The gift of prayer

Summary
Jesus says there is a right and a wrong way to pray.
Have you ever thought of that?
The greatest tragedy is unasked for prayer.
We often see prayer only to be used in case of emergencies.
A bit like the break glass in case of a fire.

Or we just go through the motions without believing that prayer will make any difference at all.

When we say the Lord’s Prayer do we mean what we say?

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
(“hallowed” means holy, honoured and wonderful)
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
(what does it mean by that?)
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
(Don’t carry out any revenge or carry bitterness against others).
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
(Don’t put yourself in a place where you are tempted).
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
(Give God the glory by communicating with him).

Prayer is an untapped resource.
We engage with God.
For a Christian to be fulfilled he/she must engage with the living God.
The Lord’s Prayer is a simple model.
Praise your Father in Heaven – honour your heavenly Father.

Remember that our purpose is to follow God’s purpose.

He gives us hope.
God supplies our needs, so ask the Father to get us through each day.
We should be mindful of forgiveness, grace and compassion through God – through the Cross.
God wants to protect us because sometimes we don’t make the right choices.
God wants to help us.

So here is the model for prayer -keep on praying. Keep at it!
This is the Gift of Prayer.
When you engage with God all things are possible.
